HEMATITE - This specimen is from N'chwaning Mine in the Kalahari Manganese Fields. For years it was in the collection of Des Sacco the Managing Director of the mine and one of South Africa's premier collectors. I purchased it directly from Mr. Sacco. The hematite is crystalline in large compound blades up to 0.5 inches thick. The blades are multidirectional with high metallic luster resulting in a pleasing appearance. Hematite is common from N'chwaning but not in crystals of this size. A real one-of-a-kind. Specimen size is 6"Wx6"Tx5.5"D and weighs about 4lbs. PRICE - $650

BRANDBERG - A very rare specimen since this is a REAL amethyst from Brandberg Mountain. Virtually every amethyst on the market for the last decade that is labeled Brandberg is actually from the Gobobos mountains adjacent to Brandberg. Mining from Brandberg proper is strictly forbidden by the government under threat of imprisonment. This piece is from an old collection that I purchased in Uis, Namibia which is the closest city to Brandberg. You can also tell it is a true Brandberg by the feldspar matrix. Gobobos pieces come out of a basalt with no feldspar present. Multiple amethyst crystals with associated crystalline feldspar. All amethyst crystals are damage free and very good color. Size overall is 6"Wx4"Dx3"T. PRICE - $1050

AMETHYST- A very nice specimen on matrix from Gobobos Mountains next to Brandberg, Namibia. Matrix specimens are very rare because the miners have only hand tools to get the crystals out of the basalt vugs. It is far easier for them to just reach in and break off the crystals versus chiseling around the vug to get matrix. The damage free amethyst is a phantom inside a clear quartz crystal which is 2.75 inches tall. This crystal is on a bed of calcite crystals. The entire specimen is 4.5"Wx6"Tx6"D and sits up nicely by itself for display.
PRICE - $495

FLUORITE - A very nice combination cluster from the Okorusu fluorite mine near Outjiwarongo, Namibia. The green fluorite crystals are mixed with quartz and barite crystals. The fluorite is called "dice" because there are phantom purple corners from an earlier crystal under the green secondary fluorite giving the appearance of green dice. The dice pocket so far has been a one-time find at the mine. A truly spectacular dice specimen is now in the L. A. Museum of Natural History. We acquired these pieces on the October 2007 Mineral Safari. The overall size is 8"Wx5"Tx5"D. PRICE- $275

SCHORL/SMOKEY QUARTZ - The best medium sized combination cluster I have ever obtained in Namibia. This extremely nice specimen is damage free. It comes from the world famous Erongo Mountains in north central Namibia. I acquired it on my August 2008 trip there. The schorl crystals exhibit the famous Mercedes Star terminations with the quartz showing a medium smokey appearance. A very nice specimen. The entire cluster measures 6"Wx3"Dx3"T. PRICE - $800
